Background of the Study
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) rely heavily on effective fund management to carry out their missions. Accounting Information Systems (AIS) can enhance the management of NGO funds by ensuring accuracy, transparency, and accountability. This study will assess the effectiveness of AIS in managing NGO funds in Northern Nigeria.
Statement of the Problem
NGOs in Northern Nigeria often face challenges in managing funds due to inadequate financial systems, lack of transparency, and mismanagement. AIS can streamline fund tracking, improve reporting, and reduce the risk of misuse, but the effectiveness of its implementation in NGO fund management has not been fully studied.
Aim and Objectives of the Study
Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of AIS in managing NGO funds in Northern Nigeria.
Objectives:
To assess the level of AIS adoption in NGOs in Northern Nigeria.
To evaluate the effectiveness of AIS in improving the transparency and accountability of NGO fund management.
To identify the challenges faced by NGOs in implementing AIS for fund management.
Research Questions
How do NGOs in Northern Nigeria currently manage their funds?
To what extent has the adoption of AIS improved NGO fund management?
What are the challenges faced by NGOs in implementing AIS for fund management?
Research Hypothesis
H₀: AIS does not significantly improve the effectiveness of NGO fund management in Northern Nigeria.
H₀: There are no significant challenges in adopting AIS for fund management in NGOs.
Significance of the Study
This study will offer valuable insights into the role of AIS in enhancing the management of NGO funds, promoting transparency, and ensuring the effective use of resources in the development sector.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
The study will focus on NGOs in Northern Nigeria that have adopted AIS for fund management. Limitations may include access to detailed financial data from NGOs and resistance to sharing operational practices.
